A Message From Jim Griffin
I have announced my resignation as President/Business Manager/Financial Secretary of Local 1900 effective at 5:00PM October 30, 2020. The Executive Board has selected Jerry Williford to fill my unexpired term of office. Please give him your support as he begins his new role.
My wife and I are entering a new chapter in our lives. We have been making a plan for some time to prepare for retirement. Obviously, any plan for retirement includes moving on from full time employment.
This is a bittersweet decision for me.
I have spent all of my adult life as a union member. For much of that time I had the honor of representing you and those who came before you. Local 1900 has provided me with opportunities and friendships that I never imagined when I came to Pepco in 1973 as a 20 year old. For all of this I will be eternally grateful. Transitioning away from it will be hard.
But, at the same time, I am looking forward to this new chapter in my life and the prospect of a dignified retirement.
I thank you all for your support over the years. Stay strong and continue to support your union.
Remember, Local 1900 is only as strong as the collective will of its members. If you are not at the table, you’re on the menu!
I wish all of you great success going forward.
