IBEW Local 1900 Union Members:
I wanted to provide you with an important update regarding President Trump’s buy-out offer. I have reached out to all of our IBEW Local 1900 union stewards across our represented government agencies, instructing them to share this information with their fellow employees to ensure everyone is informed.
Here are some critical points regarding the buy-out:
1. There is strong evidence that President Trump’s offer of severance will not be paid.
2. The leave is being considered “administrative leave,” meaning the workers are technically still on the payroll and cannot take another job.
3. There is no legal authorization for this buy-out; therefore, it is likely to be challenged in court.
4. If members choose to resign, it puts us at a significant disadvantage in court should we need to fight for anything.
Additionally, we will be discussing this matter at all three of our IBEW Local 1900 membership meetings next week to ensure that all members are fully aware and engaged in the discussion.
Thank you for your attention to this important issue, and I will keep you updated on any further developments.
In solidarity,
Jerry R. Williford Jr.
President, Business Manager, Financial Secretary
