2021 Elections of Local 1900 Officers

To IBEW Local 1900 Members,

At its regularly monthly meeting on November 19, 2020 the Local 1900 Executive Board voted to postpone the 2021 election of Local 1900 Officers for 2 months. This decision was made due to the current restrictions over public meetings which would prevent us from holding nomination meetings in January.

This postponement means that nominations will occur at the March 2021 regular membership meetings. You will be provided more details in writing during the month of February.

LEADERSHIP CHANGE AT LOCAL 1900

A Message From Jim Griffin

I have announced my resignation as President/Business Manager/Financial Secretary of Local 1900 effective at 5:00PM October 30, 2020. The Executive Board has selected Jerry Williford to fill my unexpired term of office. Please give him your support as he begins his new role.

My wife and I are entering a new chapter in our lives. We have been making a plan for some time to prepare for retirement. Obviously, any plan for retirement includes moving on from full time employment.

This is a bittersweet decision for me.

I have spent all of my adult life as a union member. For much of that time I had the honor of representing you and those who came before you. Local 1900 has provided me with opportunities and friendships that I never imagined when I came to Pepco in 1973 as a 20 year old. For all of this I will be eternally grateful. Transitioning away from it will be hard.

But, at the same time, I am looking forward to this new chapter in my life and the prospect of a dignified retirement.

I thank you all for your support over the years. Stay strong and continue to support your union.

Remember, Local 1900 is only as strong as the collective will of its members. If you are not at the table, you're on the menu!

I wish all of you great success going forward.

IBEW Fourth District International Vice President Brian Malloy

IBEW International Vice President Brian Malloy lost a heroic battle against cancer on Saturday August 22, 2020.

Brian served the IBEW and its members with energy and distinction. Local 1900 knew Brian well as our International Vice President. We will miss him. Our sincere condolences go out to his family.

The IBEW Fourth District covers Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia.
